Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Well, folks.  Monday was a bust, and that sucked.  Let me tell you about the weekend leading up to my failed launch.  It might be good for a chuckle or two.  I headed down to my friends’ house (Wyte and Exavia) for the weekend with the intention of editing together all my script bits and posting the episode for drop.

Well, Friday night I realized that I lacked my digital recorder, so I couldn’t do the episode banter.  I’d also left  a lot of my cables and connectors at home.  So, Saturday I had to drive home to get all that stuff (and feed the bunny, etc.)  well, I get back and sit down to do some editing when I realize that I’m missing the thumb drive on which all of my audio files are saved.  I was ALSO reminded of the paranormal Podcast that I’m expected to write, and the Apron I said I’d sew for another friend.

Well, Saturday, I had a bit of a meltdown and ended up blowing up at a few friends who were just trying to take me out for a celebretory evening.  Piggy, thy name is heel.  Sunday I went home, and couldn’t find my thumb drive.  Only to discover later that it was in my laptop bag all along *hits head on wall*.   SO I sit down to edit EP1 together and spend 3 hours on that, only to get 20 minutes of episode.  Fine!  I’ll crash here Sunday night, come back Monday after work, and make an evening drop.

But, guess what:

One of the voices (Corbin’s) was missing from the thumb drive.  so now I have to go ALL the way home to get it off the desktop computer.  GROW-ELL!

No, Wait!  I have my digital box HERE!  And Corbin’s voice is on THERE!  Awesome!  So, I pull his lines off the box and start editing him in.  In order to simplify the process, I took the previous edits and exported them as a .wav so it would be easier to work with.  Well, I get 10 minutes into the episode and find that the .wav has been corrupted.

DAM-EN  SALMON!!

So, rather than RE edit everything and cry tears of blood.. I just threw my hands up and said, “FINE!!  I am Teh LOSE!”  I had a nice, stout Gin and Tonic, had dinner with Wyte and Exavia, and headed home for the night.

On the neat side, Wyte lent me his Fender Jazz.  He’s teaching me to play bass guitar, which is pretty bleedin’ awesome!  So pretty soon, I might get pix of myself holding it and looking like a big, fat rocker dragon.  heh heh heh  awesome.

Anyway.  When I head off from here, I’m gonna hit the files and see if anything is salvageable.  If not, it’ll be a late night of editing, but I’m gonna do my damnedest to have Episode one up tomorrow morning.  if it fails again for some reason, then I’m just gonna’ put it off until next Monday.  Let’s hope that I can fix it, though.

Craws your claws, folks!

Well, carp. Technical difficulties.

Due to issue after issue, technical difficulty after technical difficulty and all that jazz..

Piggy Moto was delayed.

Something’s happened to my files and they all merged on top of each other.  I have no idea how this has happened, but I’m not confident that I’ll be able to re-do this editing with any kind of quality before midnight.  So I’m pushing back the drop date to Friday.

*grumbly dragon*

T - 1 week

Monday, September 8th, 2008

1 week from launch date, and I’m totally stressed out.  I have all my recordings done, but I need to sit down still and edit them all together.  snip snip splice.  snip snip splice.  I’ve hit a complete mental block.

See, there two methods by which I’ve compiled audio stories so far, and I don’t know to which I should comit.  Well, I guess I do - I’m just looking for excuses to run away and hide under my bed.  Sheesh, I’m nervous!

Act II is well underway.  Thee dits are long done, I’m just formating it for guest voices (and, MAN do I have some GENEROUS souls lending me their talent!).  I seriously don’t feel worthy.  Like who the hellz am I to be putting a project like THIS together?  Sheesh!

But, I’m committed to it.  and I know that once I get a few eps up, it will become second nature.  Just gotta get there.

Line Edits suck Atsign Dollarsign Dollarsign

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Well, I’ve spent the better part of this morning line editing, and let me tell you – line editing sucks! I’ve got the prologue and chapters 1 – 3 completed. While I entertain no delusions that they are perfect, I’d like to think they are in fantastic shape. I am very proud.

I’d previously formatted the prologue into a script, but upon looking it over last night, there were still some edits that needed to be made. So, now I am deciding whether I should try to edit the script itself, or if it would be faster to just re-do it. I’ll probably edit.

The cast lists for these chapters look rather daunting. Chapter three alone has fourteen characters! The best bet would probably be to go through the entire manuscript and isolate each character’s lines so that I can sit down with the actors and record their parts in large chunks- rather than trying to get people together over and over thirty times to record this monster.

Ugh! That sounds like a real chore, but the more I think about it, the more it sounds like the best way to go. Twenty-some scripts. But, that also means the cast will have to be set in advance.

GAAH! What have I gotten myself into?
