Piggy Moto Turkey Day!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Heading to Katy to see the family for Thanksgiving, and I’m taking the next episode with me.  Still can’t speak totally well, but I have a little treat y’all :)  So, stay tuned!  The fun episode will drop Friday :)

Love y’all!  Have a great Turkey Day!

Where are those piggies?!

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Well, they have been crazy busy!  I am sitting here right now with Chris, working on the extended “Porcine Romance in A-flat Minor”.  I expect that tonight we will finish it, and then ship it off to my musical buddy in Scotland, who will be rendering it into its final format.  This means that (with luck) episode 24 will be ready to drop early this weekend, and it will feature the HOTTEST Piggy Moto track to date!  Now, I MIGHT get a little wacky and put the WHOLE song together.. singing and all.  I’d re-work the vocal track and clean up its levels a bit, add it to the instrumental piece, and then post that as a podcast episode episode in and of itself (as a special bonus for subscribers).  But, if I’m gonna do that, I’m gonna need to know you’re out there reading this.

So, after you read this, drop in with a reply, or zap me an e-mail.

Also, Here’s a shout out to you folks with access to public cork boards.  Check out the Piggy Moto Fliers.  Download them, print them out (you’ll need to chop them in half, but hey, 2 adverts for the price of one, right?) and then post them wherever people might appreciate an adult-friendly podcast novel about musical swine.  Just don’t go posting these where people might think Piggy Moto is a children’s story.  I’d hate for parents’ ears to bleed at the first reference to pr*stitutes or h*mos*xuality, or the first time someone drops the “F” bomb!

Also, Help the piggies stay online!  Mevio has lined me up with several sponsors, who pay me for click-throughs and commissions.  I have special offer codes for costumes, web-hosting, and even custom art and printing.  There is also a Piggy Moto store where you can get your PM merchandise, over at Zazzle.Com.  Couple that with my discount code, and you’ll be helping the pigs out twice over.

So, that’s it for now.  Back to post production with me!

What?! No episode?!

Unexpected break.  Sorry folks.

Late last week, I had a bit of a family emergency, and that set me back a bit as far as working on the podcast.  Fortunately, things have been resolved and everything is well on track to normalizing.  I’m not done with last week’s episode, and rather than rush myself just so I can put it out late, I’m gonna go ahead and just skip until next Sunday

So, that was the bad news.  The good news (and the reason I am skipping) is because the next episode is pretty damn ambitious.  A good deal of folks have had very kind things to say about my sound effects, occasional bed music and other post production treats I put into these episodes, and to them I would like to say, “Just wait until next Sunday.”  HooooO!  It’s gonna be good >:)

So, there we are.  I’ll banter at y’all Sunday :)

Love you all!

So, my “to do” board, which usually only holds about 5 or 6 items, tops out at a whopping 14.  Seems a little daunting, but most are pretty straightforward tasks, and it always feels so good to scratch one off.

I just got done editing chapter 11 of the MSS, which was a pretty good one, imo.  I am working with the nooker to get it into the best shape possible.  I’m pondering taking a page from Scott Sigler and offering .pdf versions of each act as I podcast them.  While I’m not classically published yet, that might build up some interest in p.o.d. or whatnot when I finish the project.  Heck, I might even woo a smaller publisher or something. *hope hope*  we’ll see.

I’m also trying to come up with new ways to attract listeners and increase subscriber participation.  I was kicking around the idea of starting “The Sounder” for PM fans.. but not sure how to go about getting that off the ground.  Any ideas?

I’m also trying to get onto Podiobooks.com, but am having some annoying technical problems.  Gotta get my tags just right, and have already messed up my application twice.  So, I need to con someone without lunix into taking a look at my prologue file to see if everything comes up in iTunes right.  UGH.. so much trouble.. but SO worth it.  I’ma wait until act I is entirely produced until I try submitting again.

So, I had all week to record episode 6, and following that, I had all weekend.  Today, I’m going to a friend’s party, and find myself staring into the microphone..   I’m transporting all the necessary filed from the recorder into my computer, waiting for the laundry to finish, and preparing to put down the most dialogue-intensive chapters to date.  Oooh sheesh, why do I put stuff off like this?!

Looks like next week is gonna be FULL of heads-down sound editing

Did some Tidying!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Hey folks!  I have been tidying up the site, and streamlined things quite a bit.  A couple friends mentioned that the prologue episode wasn’t showing up in their iTunes queues.  Well, check again, cause I think I figured out why it wasn’t showing up.

At any rate, you might notice that there are fewer things cluttering up the sidebar, and that entries are grouped a little more efficiently.  Err- well, that’s what I hope you’ve noticed :) :)

But that’s what’s up with the sight.  This weekend, I start putting together episode six, to drop on the 26th.  new Moon.  Oooooh and Chinese New Year (one of my birthdays)

Yesh, I was, indeed born on Chinese New Year.   So, this will be a new year / birthday post.

NaNoWriMo.. Piggy Moto.. Episode 5?

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I’m aiming for Saturday.  I have the episode recorded, I just need to edit it together.

My wordcount is right around 43,000 though, for NaNo.. It’s not a PiggyMoto story, though..

BUT   That’s what’s going on.  It’s been crazy!

Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Well, folks.  Monday was a bust, and that sucked.  Let me tell you about the weekend leading up to my failed launch.  It might be good for a chuckle or two.  I headed down to my friends’ house (Wyte and Exavia) for the weekend with the intention of editing together all my script bits and posting the episode for drop.

Well, Friday night I realized that I lacked my digital recorder, so I couldn’t do the episode banter.  I’d also left  a lot of my cables and connectors at home.  So, Saturday I had to drive home to get all that stuff (and feed the bunny, etc.)  well, I get back and sit down to do some editing when I realize that I’m missing the thumb drive on which all of my audio files are saved.  I was ALSO reminded of the paranormal Podcast that I’m expected to write, and the Apron I said I’d sew for another friend.

Well, Saturday, I had a bit of a meltdown and ended up blowing up at a few friends who were just trying to take me out for a celebretory evening.  Piggy, thy name is heel.  Sunday I went home, and couldn’t find my thumb drive.  Only to discover later that it was in my laptop bag all along *hits head on wall*.   SO I sit down to edit EP1 together and spend 3 hours on that, only to get 20 minutes of episode.  Fine!  I’ll crash here Sunday night, come back Monday after work, and make an evening drop.

But, guess what:

One of the voices (Corbin’s) was missing from the thumb drive.  so now I have to go ALL the way home to get it off the desktop computer.  GROW-ELL!

No, Wait!  I have my digital box HERE!  And Corbin’s voice is on THERE!  Awesome!  So, I pull his lines off the box and start editing him in.  In order to simplify the process, I took the previous edits and exported them as a .wav so it would be easier to work with.  Well, I get 10 minutes into the episode and find that the .wav has been corrupted.

DAM-EN  SALMON!!

So, rather than RE edit everything and cry tears of blood.. I just threw my hands up and said, “FINE!!  I am Teh LOSE!”  I had a nice, stout Gin and Tonic, had dinner with Wyte and Exavia, and headed home for the night.

On the neat side, Wyte lent me his Fender Jazz.  He’s teaching me to play bass guitar, which is pretty bleedin’ awesome!  So pretty soon, I might get pix of myself holding it and looking like a big, fat rocker dragon.  heh heh heh  awesome.

Anyway.  When I head off from here, I’m gonna hit the files and see if anything is salvageable.  If not, it’ll be a late night of editing, but I’m gonna do my damnedest to have Episode one up tomorrow morning.  if it fails again for some reason, then I’m just gonna’ put it off until next Monday.  Let’s hope that I can fix it, though.

Craws your claws, folks!

T – 1 week

Monday, September 8th, 2008

1 week from launch date, and I’m totally stressed out.  I have all my recordings done, but I need to sit down still and edit them all together.  snip snip splice.  snip snip splice.  I’ve hit a complete mental block.

See, there two methods by which I’ve compiled audio stories so far, and I don’t know to which I should comit.  Well, I guess I do – I’m just looking for excuses to run away and hide under my bed.  Sheesh, I’m nervous!

Act II is well underway.  Thee dits are long done, I’m just formating it for guest voices (and, MAN do I have some GENEROUS souls lending me their talent!).  I seriously don’t feel worthy.  Like who the hellz am I to be putting a project like THIS together?  Sheesh!

But, I’m committed to it.  and I know that once I get a few eps up, it will become second nature.  Just gotta get there.

Line Edits suck Atsign Dollarsign Dollarsign

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Well, I’ve spent the better part of this morning line editing, and let me tell you – line editing sucks! I’ve got the prologue and chapters 1 – 3 completed. While I entertain no delusions that they are perfect, I’d like to think they are in fantastic shape. I am very proud.

I’d previously formatted the prologue into a script, but upon looking it over last night, there were still some edits that needed to be made. So, now I am deciding whether I should try to edit the script itself, or if it would be faster to just re-do it. I’ll probably edit.

The cast lists for these chapters look rather daunting. Chapter three alone has fourteen characters! The best bet would probably be to go through the entire manuscript and isolate each character’s lines so that I can sit down with the actors and record their parts in large chunks- rather than trying to get people together over and over thirty times to record this monster.

Ugh! That sounds like a real chore, but the more I think about it, the more it sounds like the best way to go. Twenty-some scripts. But, that also means the cast will have to be set in advance.

GAAH! What have I gotten myself into?
